At last, you can easily find the cables that you need. You can also do this by storing the string in a Ziploc plastic bag before you mark them.
Another case is that some people may take other devices together with your laptop. If you are in this condition, you need to store multiple cables for printer, modem or mouse. When you store your power cables, you must coil with zip tie for every cable for the device and mark them.
