how to fix a power adapter

So even though I like Asus a lot, I am currently very annoyed with the power adapter that comes with my current eeepc.
The front panel of the adapter has been a little flimsy all the time, yesterday when I pulled out the adapter from the wall, the panel decided to stay in the socket, while the rest of the adapter rested comfortably in my hands.
As time was running out, I grabbed the small piece attached to the wall, threw everything in my bag and ran to school to fix it.
While this is built around my specific plug, these techniques should be able to apply to any plug that somehow separates itselfso-ever.
Safety warning: before unplugging the exposed wire from the wall, make sure to turn off the power of the socket.
Your life is more important than fixing this plug.
When I got to school and needed a computer, I started to figure out what the problem was and how to fix it.
My first impression was that there was absolutely no soldering on the cable or plug that was torn off the back of the plug.
There are small holes on the back of the plug, but they are too small to go through two more threaded wires.
I don\'t know how the wires are connected at the moment.
I also find it awkward to expose how many bare wires without any proper shielding, but it\'s just me.
All in all, it seems like a simple solution, I just weld the wires back to where they pop up and call it a day!
So the first thing after cutting the new cable (
This is a legacy of some old components)
I want to know which tip of the plug leads to which wire.
Since the plug on my computer only uses two spires, I need to make sure I use the same two spires on the three spires.
I set up the 10 thousand LEDs to test the resistance and check the continuity between the three internal cable wires with three spires.
It turns out that the green cable is connected (
I was told it was standard)
The other two are black and white.
Because my computer doesn\'t care which way it\'s plugged into the wall (
Two spires are bigger than the other)
, It doesn\'t matter which way I weld the black and white wire to the plug.
I did try my best to see where the cables wanted and weld them to the plug they wanted to go to, but I don\'t think that matters at all.
Just before I started welding the cables together, I noticed that there would be a big public appearance with the power adapter if I continued to work.
To prevent this from happening, I decided to drill a hole in the center of the adapter\'s panel.
If my classmates don\'t fall asleep, I might take a dremel to the pin to keep the panel clean.
Looking back, I\'m glad I didn\'t do it because the final look of the plug was perfect.
To pick the bit, I compared the width of the bit to the width of the wire I had previously cut.
I chose the smallest bit I thought the cable could go through.
You can Center the drill bit with a punch, but I was in a hurry and stared at it with my eyes.
Snap the panel back into place and enjoy your new plug.
If your plug does not have a snap, there is a little extra tape outside to work.
I did the first power check that was not plugged into the computer.
I plugged it into the wall and made sure the \"I insert it correctly\" light came on.
After that, I set up my computer for the demo, plugged it in and let it run for 6 hours.
I haven\'t had any problems with my fix yet.
